Library of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Law
The collection and focus of the library

The library of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Law builds a library collection with regard to the study fields of both faculties.

Types of documents:

  • Books are stored in open-access sections and depositories. Items on loan are mostly lent for a month or a semester.  Some items are only available for in-house study, or they can be borrowed overnight or over the weekend. Specific details about individual items can be found in the online catalogue of the University Library.
  • Periodicals - current volumes of journals/magazines are available for in-house study in the reading room on the 2nd floor. Older volumes of periodicals are stored in the depository and are available on request at the circulation desk; users will wait briefly to receive them.
  • Publication activities – the library collects, registers and stores the full-text versions of publications written by employees of the Faculty of Law.  The university-published texts collection represents a special part of the collection; is intended mainly for archiving purposes, but publications are fully available for in-house study.
  • Qualification works – the library stores the Bachelor´s and Master´s theses of students of the Faculty of Law. Moreover, all qualification works defended since 2012 are accessible without restriction in full-text versions in the UWB Digital Library (except for the works excepted by the Dean).
  • Floppy discs, CDs, DVDs, VHSs – these items are located at the circulation desk and can only be lent on request as an in-house loan (although they may be accessory materials for a publication).
